Former Emit collaborator and Dodfodd/AnXpm drummer Emil Lundin has uploaded a little tutorial on black metal drumming for your edification.
I haven’t seen any pictures of this guy since his Ofermod days, so was quite surprised to see what looks like a studious monk blasting away at the drumkit! An “old days” photo of him can be seen in the AnXpm post. Anyway, here’s what Mr. Lundin has to say:
Got the idea of passing on the torch and make a short video. Remember not finding a decent one years ago when searching; younger I had to listen to records in order to learn how to play. Today internet may solve someone’s problems.
Some of my ideas on black metal drumming presented. Havn’t been active full time drummer since 2005 (now 2011) so there are alot of mistakes and exhaustion, the general ideas, however, and some cool tricks are presented and explained. Blast beat and dubble bass drum. Recorded with my cell phone (x10mini) at my parents cabin, Torsång, Dalecarlia (between Borlänge and Falun), 28 of July 2011.

Unlikely to happen, but who knows
MM’s not very into technical stuff, but seeing as you may be interested in such things, I know he used a range of different tunings on “Spires…”, mainly standard on “Nature Mystic” and on “Morthwork” he used standard tuning but with the bottom E downtuned so he could play bass parts simultaneous with the guitar parts. A real one man band, hehehe

Were some of the pictures removed from the ‘images’ section of the site? I seem to remember there being more last time I looked.

Oh, I’m in the process of updating the images bit, adding some new stuff etc.
I can’t get hold of Michael at the moment though, maybe he’s in a monastery or something.
